Dear Veterans of the Rio Grande Valley:
In this blog post is a flier describing a special Veterans Day program to be held at the HCISD Performing Arts Center, 3217 W. Wilson Road in Harlingen, Monday Nov. 11, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. We want to invite veterans in South Texas and especially the Rio Grande Valley to attend this event. Photos and mementos will be presented to all Veterans in attendance. Dr. Rodriguez Elementary School will partner with Time Warner Cable and History.com. for “Take a Veteran to School Day.” This well-publicized event will link veterans to students in the Rio Grande Valley and across the nation in over 5,000 schools, so your presence will add so much to the event. Our students need to see and meet our veterans, and though many of you will be doing programs of your own that day, we hope that you will distribute this flier to your Post and attend if you can.
The day’s activities will also involve several speakers, including Marine Military Academy Superintendent Glenn Hill and Lt. Colonel Chris Amrhein from the U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.
We invite you to the event and to the reception for veterans at 10:30 a.m. held at Dr. Rodriguez Elementary, 8402 Wilson Rd., close to the Performing Arts Center. Rickey E. Pittman, Bard of the South, will be performing patriotic music during the reception.
Please share this invitation with as many as you can.
